Introduction

This publication presents statistics on the transportation and storage services which obtained from the Annual Economic Survey 2022 for reference year 2021. Transportation and storage services comprises activity of land transport; water transport; air transport; warehousing & support activities and post & courier services. The main statistics such as the value of gross output, value of intermediate input, value added, number of persons engaged, salaries & wages paid as well as value of fixed assets owned also presented in this publication.

Performance of Transportation and Storage Services

The transportation and storage services recorded RM102.0 billion for value of gross output in 2021 compared to RM99.8 billion in 2020 with the growth of 2.2 per cent. The value of intermediate input increased RM2.1 billion, recorded RM58.5 billion with growth of 3.7 per cent, thus resulting the value added of RM43.6 billion for the year 2021. The number of persons engaged in this sub-sector also increased 3.8 per cent, recorded 457,484 persons as compared to 440,536 persons in 2020. Meanwhile, the salaries & wages paid in 2021 was RM15.6 billion compared to RM15.6 billion in 2020, decreased 0.3 per cent.
