The private health and social work services recorded a gross output value of RM25.4 billion in 2021 as compared to RM23.3 billion in the previous year, an increase of 8.7 percent. In line with the increase in gross output, the value of intermediate input increased by RM1.2 billion to RM13.4 billion with a 9.4 percent increase, resulting in a value added of RM12.0 billion for 2021. The number of persons engaged in this sector also reported an increase of 0.3 percent to 155,543 as compared to 155,150 in 2020. Meanwhile, salaries and wages paid in 2021 amounted to RM5.6 billion, compared to RM5.3 billion in 2020. The value of fixed assets is RM12.2 billion compared to 2020 (RM11.7 billion).
