Financial services sector recorded gross output value of RM164.8 billion in 2021 as compared to RM153.9 billion in 2020, an increase of 7.1 per cent. In line with the growth in gross output, the value of intermediate input also increased by RM3.2 billion to record RM59.8 billion, with annual growth of 5.7 per cent, and thus resulting a value added of RM104.9 billion for the year of 2021. 

The number of persons engaged in this sector recorded an increase of 0.3 per cent to 366,767 persons as compared to 365,819 persons in 2020. Meanwhile, the salaries & wages paid in 2021 amounted to RM22.1 billion, an increase of 0.9 per cent compared to 2020, and value of fixed assets amounted to RM300.8 billion (4.0%).
