Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales in October 2021 stood at RM140.7 billion, grew 15.3 per cent as compared to the same month of the previous year. The rise in sales value was driven by the Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastic Products (27.0%), Electrical & Electronics Products (16.9%) and Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (11.8%). Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the sales value increased 4.0 per cent.

The Industrial Production Index (IPI) increased 5.5 per cent in October 2021 as compared to the same month of the previous year. The expansion of IPI was attributed by the increment of 8.0 per cent in Manufacturing index and 4.1 per cent in Electricity index. Meanwhile, Mining index recorded a downturn of 3.5 per cent.

This publication presents statistics on electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector obtained from the Economic Census 2016 for reference year 2015. Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector encompass the operation of electric and gas utilities, which generate, control and distribute electric power or gas. Also includes the provision of steam and air conditioning supply. This sector includes all industries in Section D classified under the Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification (MSIC) 2008 Ver. 1.0, in accordance with the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC), Revision 2008. The last census was conducted in 2011 for reference year 2010.

In 2012, the key statistics of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector showed the gross output value of RM38.9 billion. In addition, intermediate inputs and value added posted RM17.8 billion and RM21.1 billion respectively. Total salaries and wages for this sector recorded RM2.4 billion with total employment of 42,014 persons.
