Note:

   Monthly Survey of Whosale & Retail Trade

The Department of Statistics, Malaysia (DOSM) is currently conducting the Monthly Survey of Whosale & Retail Trade, 2022 commencing with reference month January 2022. This is an online submission and mail enquiry survey. Survey questionnaires are mailed to respondents at the beginning of the year and the time given to complete and return a copy of the questionnaires for each reference month is by or before the 10th of the following month (example : for reference month January 2022, the due date for submission in 10th February 2022). 

The main objective of this survey is to obtain statistics from a cross section of Malaysia businesses in Whosale & Retail Trade industries. The information collected is used extensively in the production of a range of economic indicators. An example is Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which measures the economic activity in Malaysia. These statistics help the government and other organisations as well as business community in planning and decision making.

 

   Quarterly Survey of Services (QSS)

The Department of Statistics, Malaysia (DOSM) is currently conducting the Quarterly Survey of Services 2022. Eleven  (11) sub-sectors were covered in the survey as per listed below:

  1. Transportation & Storage Services
  2. Information and Communication Services
  3. Food and Beverage Services
  4. Accommodation Services
  5. Education Services
  6. Health Services
  7. Professional Services
  8. Real Estate Agents
  9. Arts, Entertainment and Recreation Services
  10. Administrative and Support Services
  11. Personal Services and Other Activities
     

This is an online submission and mail enquiry survey. Questionnaires are mailed to respondents at the beginning of every quarter. Time given to complete and return a copy of the questionnaires for each reference quarter is by/or before the 10th of the following month (example: for reference of First Quarter 2022, the due date for submission is 10th April 2022).

The purpose of this survey is to obtain statistics of Malaysia businesses and digital economy in a variety of industries in services sector. The information collected is used extensively in the production of a range of economic indicators such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP). These statistics help the government and other organisations as well as business community in planning and decision making.

 

   Domestic Tourism Survey (DTS)

The survey was conducted by the Department of Statistics, Malaysia to collect key statistics of domestic tourism in terms of volume and value such as number of domestic visitors, number of domestic travel trips and total domestic visitor spending. In addition, the survey also collects information on domestic tourism travel pattern and demographic profiles of domestic visitors.

The survey was conducted throughout the states in Malaysia covering urban and rural strata. The data collection method used was face-to-face interviews with respondents in selected living quarters. The data are collected on a monthly basis.

 

   Survey on Usage of ICT and e-Commerce by Establishment

The Department of Statistics, Malaysia is conducting the Survey on Usage of ICT and E-Commerce by Establishment, 2020 (for reference year 2019). This survey encompasses all economic sectors in Malaysia classified under the Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification (MSIC) 2008 Ver. 1.0.

The main objective of this survey is to collect comprehensive and current information on usage of ICT and e-commerce in businesses. The information of this survey will be used by the government to measure the usage of ICT performance and digital economy in Malaysia.
